IGC 2027: Call for Abstracts, Workshops, Tours & more! June 13-18, 2027 | Kongresshalle am Zoo, Leipzig, Germany

In less than one year, the global grassland community will meet in Leipzig, Germany, for IGC 2027 to celebrate 100 Years of Grassland Research and explore future perspectives under the theme "100 Years of Grassland Research — Ways to the Future." Hosted by ZALF, JKI, and TI, the congress brings together researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders from around the world.

IGC 2027 Keynote Speakers

 

We are delighted to welcome the first keynote speakers for IGC 2027:

Sally Archibald (University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg, South Africa), Imke de Boer (Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands), Nico Eisenhauer (German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig and Leipzig University, Germany), and Yingjun Zhang (China Agricultural University, China).

 

Together, they represent leading expertise across the diverse fields of grassland research and will contribute to an inspiring scientific program.

Call for Workshops & Abstracts

 

We offer you the opportunity to organize your own pre- or post-congress workshop, specifically adapted to your target audience. Applications for the workshop can be submitted until February 1, 2027. You will receive feedback within four weeks of submitting your application, but no later than the end of February 2027. The overall workshop plan, including contact information, will be made available on the congress website.

 

In addition, Call for Abstracts is now open. We warmly encourage you to submit your latest research, innovations, and practical experiences, present your work to the international grassland community, and help shape the future of grassland research.

Pre- and Mid-Conference-Tours

 

Experience grassland systems beyond the conference venue.

Our Pre-Congress Tours will take participants through diverse grassland landscapes in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.

During the congress, a variety of Mid-Congress Tours will offer insights into grassland ecosystems, ruminant production systems, and sustainable land management in central Germany.

End of the fast-track option (for authors with long visa application processing times)

Authors that are planning to submit a voluntary full paper later on, need to submit their abstract until October 2, 2026

Acceptance notifications for abstracts submitted until Oktober 2, 2026

December 18, 2026

Voluntary full paper submission deadline
